The Garden Cooperative ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

1. Information We Collect

Account info: Name, email address, and profile details you provide when you register or update your profile.
Location: ZIP code used to determine your agricultural zone and connect you with nearby communities. You control whether this is visible to other members.
Content: Journal posts, community messages, and growing lists you create on the platform.
Billing: Payments are processed by Stripe. We store only a Stripe customer ID — we never see or store your full card details.
Usage: Standard server logs (request paths, status codes, timestamps) for operational monitoring. We do not log response bodies.

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide and operate the Garden Cooperative platform
To connect you with communities near your ZIP code
To process payments and manage your subscription or Lifetime Pass
To send important notices about your account or changes to these policies
To improve platform performance and diagnose technical issues

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Information Sharing

We share information only with service providers necessary to operate the platform (Stripe for payments, Replit for hosting). These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and may not use it for their own purposes.

Your profile and journal posts marked "public" are visible to other logged-in Garden Cooperative members. Content marked "private" is visible only to you.

4. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your profile and posts are permanently deleted from our systems within 30 days. Community messages may be retained in anonymized or deleted form per community settings.

5. Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us. You may also export your data by downloading your profile and journal from your account settings.

6. Cookies and Authentication

The Garden Cooperative uses session cookies for authentication. These cookies are strictly necessary to keep you logged in and are not used for advertising or tracking across other sites.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice on the platform at least 14 days in advance.
